Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni warned her citizens about the spread of "false" and fabricated images of her, created using artificial intelligence techniques, showing her in revealing clothes. She confirmed that these images are being promoted as real by some opponents.

The warning came in a post on Meloni's official account on the "X" platform, where she wrote: "In these days, many fake images of me are being circulated, created using artificial intelligence and promoted as real images by some active opponents."

Meloni's comment on the fabricated image

Meloni posted one of the fabricated revealing images, commenting: "I must admit that the person who created it, at least in the attached case, has greatly improved my appearance. But the fact remains that to attack and invent lies, anything is now being used."

She warned that the problem has gone beyond her personally, noting that "deepfake videos are a dangerous tool because they can deceive, manipulate, and harm anyone." She confirmed that she can defend herself against those fabricated images, but "many others cannot."

A call to verify before believing

Meloni stressed the need to apply a fixed rule, saying: "A rule must always apply: verify before believing, and believe before sharing. Because what happens to me today may happen to anyone tomorrow."

It is noteworthy that Meloni's government, which assumed the presidency of the government in October 2022, has become the second longest-serving government in power among 68 governments in the history of the Italian Republic. Her government has surpassed the duration of Silvio Berlusconi's fourth government, which lasted 1287 days in power, in which Meloni also served as Minister of Youth. Her government lags by 124 days behind the Berlusconi government that he led from June 11, 2001 to April 23, 2005, which lasted 1412 days in power.
