A British maritime authority announced on Saturday that an oil tanker was hit by an unidentified projectile on the left side of its bow off the coast of Oman, according to Reuters.

The authority received a report indicating that the incident occurred six nautical miles east of the Sultanate of Oman.

The British authority confirmed that the tanker’s crew is safe and that no environmental impact has been reported. The tanker is continuing its voyage to the next port of call.

It is noted that a blockade is imposed on ships from all countries entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

An Iranian parliamentarian stated that the naval blockade has caused a significant budget deficit.
