An Israeli airstrike destroyed a residential building in Gaza's Shati refugee camp, injuring nine people and sparking fires.
A multi-story residential building in the Shati refugee camp was reduced to rubble early Saturday after a violent Israeli airstrike on western Gaza. The attack, which lit up the night sky in an orange hue, marks the latest escalation in Israeli military operations since the ceasefire agreement.
According to a correspondent for "Erem News," two missiles struck the building. Residents of another home in the area, who had received evacuation warnings, are now anxiously awaiting its fate.
As soon as the Israeli evacuation orders came through, the targeted building's occupants fled into the streets, which became their makeshift shelter amid widespread destruction.
Mahmoud Basal, a spokesperson for Gaza's Civil Defense, reported that "the bombing directly injured about nine citizens." He confirmed the complete destruction of the targeted building, along with damage to dozens of neighboring homes and structures, and fires breaking out in several of them.
In a related development, the Israeli military issued an evacuation warning to residents of a multi-story building in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood, southwest of Gaza City, before proceeding to bomb it.
The Gaza Strip is experiencing a rise in the pace of Israeli military operations, while ceasefire negotiations remain stalled. Israel accuses the Hamas movement of stalling on the issue of handing over weapons.
