Pakistan Accuses Afghanistan of Training 7,000 Fighters for Cross-Border Attacks
Pakistan’s political advisor alleges Afghanistan is training over 7,000 militants to launch attacks, warning of continued operations against militant camps on Afghan soil.

Over 7,000 militants are being trained on Afghan soil to carry out attacks against Pakistan, according to a top political advisor to the Pakistani prime minister. Rana Sanaullah, the advisor on political and public affairs, leveled the accusation during a session of the Pakistani Senate, as reported by the Khaama Press news portal.
Sanaullah stated that these fighters receive financial backing from India and Israel. He warned that Pakistan would persist with its operations targeting militant camps and sanctuaries located inside Afghanistan. “Afghanistan is training around 7,000 militants on its territory to launch attacks on Pakistan… but Islamabad will not abandon its resolve to eradicate terrorism,” he said, according to the report.
The advisor also referenced a clear directive from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, asserting that Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government must choose between maintaining ties with Pakistan or permitting continued militant activity along the border. Islamabad has not backed down from its commitment to root out terrorism, he added.
No official response has yet come from Kabul regarding Sanaullah’s remarks. The accusation emerges as diplomatic dialogue between the two nations resumes, with China mediating talks in the city of Urumqi.
Tensions along the border have persisted in recent months despite these diplomatic efforts. Military clashes, including artillery exchanges and airstrikes, have occurred along various segments of the Durand Line—the de facto border with Pakistan that Kabul does not recognize.
Afghan officials have repeatedly rejected Pakistani claims that militant groups, including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), operate from Afghan territory. Kabul characterizes Pakistan’s security crisis as an internal matter.
