Panic at Israeli Base: Who Poisoned the Female Soldiers During Duty?

Nine female soldiers at a southern Israel training base reported severe abdominal pain after eating dinner for the Hebrew New Year, while the Israeli army confirmed that the soldiers were examined and received medical care.

According to the newspaper "Maariv", panic spread throughout the base after symptoms appeared. Initially, suspicions arose that spoiled meat might be the cause, but the army stated that tests ruled out this possibility.

Israeli Female Soldiers Poisoned?

The father of one of the soldiers told the newspaper, requesting anonymity, that his daughter informed him about a strange incident inside the base kitchen, adding: "Our daughter said they heard a dispute between staff members over whether one of the holiday meat dishes should be served or not, and in the end, the meal was served."

He added that one of the female soldiers who felt unwell went to perform a guard duty mission but collapsed due to extreme weakness and sustained a hand fracture.

According to accounts relayed by the newspaper from soldiers, despite reporting abdominal pain, most of the female soldiers were not hospitalized—only two were transferred, while the others received medical treatment on-site. The soldier’s father said his daughter described a state of panic following the incident.

Meanwhile, an Israeli military source told "Maariv" that after on-site testing, no widespread illness was detected among soldiers at the Nitzanim base, noting that only a limited number of female soldiers visited the medical team due to gastrointestinal symptoms.

He added that, following orders from the platoon commander, a medical inquiry was conducted for all platoon members to detect any additional cases, revealing that approximately nine female soldiers exhibited symptoms consistent with the condition. They received appropriate treatment and were sent to rest within the unit as needed.

In a formal statement, the Israeli army denied any widespread outbreak of illness at the base, confirming that medical authorities are monitoring the soldiers’ conditions.

It also emphasized that allegations regarding serving spoiled food had been thoroughly investigated and definitively ruled out, and that there is no information about shortages of food supplies at the base.

It added that the base kitchen continues to provide meals regularly during holidays, stressing that any further claims raised by soldiers will undergo investigation, and that the army "places utmost importance on maintaining the health of its soldiers."
