Tehran expressed its readiness to stop the war and return to the negotiating table with Washington, according to what the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Pezeshkian affirmed during a phone call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron that his country is "ready to end the war within the framework of law and international constants," while at the same time stressing the guarantee of the rights of the Iranian people, and announcing the continuation of "the path of diplomacy seriously."
The phone talks between Pezeshkian and Macron included a discussion of "the strategic situation in the region, particularly the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, and the preliminary ceasefire agreement and negotiations between Iran and America," where views and assessments were exchanged on these files.
For his part, Ismail Baqaei, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, explained via the "X" platform that "the concept of negotiation requires a real and sincere effort for dialogue aimed at resolving and settling differences," pointing out that "negotiation" requires "seriousness and good faith."
In a separate post on the "X" platform, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his "deep concern" over the escalation of ongoing tensions, after his conversation with his Iranian counterpart. Macron described the attacks on civilian infrastructure in the Emirates and on a number of ships as "unjustified," affirming his condemnation of them.
These developments come shortly after US President Donald Trump announced that his country had won the war against Iran, expressing his desire to see the Iranian people enjoying their full rights.
