Ukraine is marking today the 40th anniversary of the worst nuclear disaster in the world, amid ongoing concerns that the Russian war that began about 4 years ago could lead to a repeat of the tragedy.
The Pope said in his weekly sermon that "the Chernobyl disaster left a scar on the collective conscience of humanity." He continued: "This still serves as a warning about the use of more powerful technologies."
