Russian Forces Strike Two Ukrainian Arms-Carrying Cargo Ships South and East of Odesa

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated on Thursday that its forces had struck two dry cargo ships transporting military supplies off the coast of Ukraine’s Odesa, in Black Sea waters.

Wednesday evening strikes confirmed

In a brief statement carried by Russian media outlets, the ministry said: “The Russian Armed Forces continue targeting vessels used in support of the Ukrainian military.”

It added: “On the evening of yesterday — Wednesday — attack drones targeted two dry cargo ships carrying military supplies in the Black Sea, south and east of Odesa.”

Prior strikes on three vessels

The ministry had announced early on Wednesday that it hit three ships loaded with weapons and military equipment destined for the Ukrainian army in Black Sea waters south of Odesa.

These latest operations form part of Russia’s ongoing campaign to disrupt Ukrainian military supply chains across the Black Sea.

Focus on key Ukrainian ports

Russian attacks have also concentrated on major Ukrainian ports, including Chornomorsk and Mykolaiv, which play a pivotal logistical role in receiving Western military aid.

Russian forces have simultaneously conducted strikes against logistics centers in Kyiv and targeted three ships near Odesa.
