Widespread Russian Attack Targets Ukraine's Energy Arteries and Ports
Russia announced a large-scale attack on Ukrainian energy facilities and port infrastructure, citing retaliation against attacks on civilians.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that the Armed Forces launched a large-scale attack on energy facilities and port infrastructure in Ukraine, along with ships it said were used for military purposes and to serve Ukrainian forces.
In a statement, the ministry said Russian forces carried out a wide-ranging strike during the night of November 3 using high-precision weapons launched from land and air, as well as long-range attack aircraft.
The statement added that the attacks targeted energy facilities and installations supplying institutions of Ukraine's military-industrial complex in the Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv regions, as well as port infrastructure in the Odesa region, and naval vessels used for military purposes.
The ministry clarified that Russian forces continue to target Ukrainian military-industrial facilities, including sites involved in the production and storage of long- and medium-range drones, alongside decision-making centers, ports, and facilities that Moscow claims are used for military purposes.
The Russian Ministry of Defense justified these attacks as a response to what it described as Ukrainian attacks on civilians and Russian civilian infrastructure, confirming that targeting such sites occurs daily.
These strikes come within the framework of the Russian military operation that began on February 24, 2022, which Moscow says aims to protect the residents of Donbas, whom it accuses Ukrainian authorities of persecuting and committing genocide against over many years.
