Security Alert and Road Closures in Iranian Zahedan: What Is Happening?

Iranian city of Zahedan witnessed sporadic gunfire early Friday that lasted for nearly two hours, resulting in at least six injuries, amid widespread security presence and temporary closure of the city's entrances and exits, according to a report published by "Iran International".

The report cited sources stating the gunfire appeared to target individuals inside a vehicle, injuring one armed person and three military personnel, as well as two women who were passing through the area.

As of now, the identities of the injured and the nature or severity of their injuries remain unclear.

According to the report, several ambulances were dispatched to the scene, while security forces established checkpoints on surrounding streets.

Images and videos circulating on social media showed armed individuals firing shots, amid the presence of military and security forces in the area.

At the same time, "Iran International" reported a large deployment of security personnel, officers in civilian clothing, and units from various agencies across Zahedan.

Additionally, according to the report, the city’s entrances and exits were temporarily closed amid widespread security alert, while the circumstances behind the gunfire and the responsible party remain unknown.
