Trump: Flávio Bolsonaro Can Stay in the United States
US President Donald Trump stated that Brazilian Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, who lost his country's presidential election to leftist Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, can remain in the US 'as long as he wants.'

US President Donald Trump confirmed today, Sunday, that Brazilian Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, who lost the presidential election in his country against leftist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, can stay in the United States "as long as he wants."
Speaking to journalists at his club in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump said he does not intend to meet with Bolsonaro, who traveled to the United States after losing the election.
Trump added: "I think he was treated badly. Very badly. So he can stay here for as long as he wants," according to his statement.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Washington did not directly participate in the arrangements that allowed Bolsonaro to leave his country after losing the presidential election to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Rubio added during a press conference in Atlanta, where the US is hosting a two-day meeting of foreign ministers from G20 countries, that Bolsonaro "already had an entry visa, and the President made the decision to allow him into the country."
However, he affirmed that "the US government did not directly participate" in the arrangements Bolsonaro made to leave his country.
Bolsonaro, who lost the presidential runoff election on Sunday, secretly left Brazil on Tuesday and arrived in Florida on Wednesday via private jet, passing through Argentina and Ecuador.
Trump and his Argentine counterpart Javier Milei are facing pressure to clarify the extent of US and Argentine involvement in the senator's escape process.
