Syria is set to take part in the Group of Seven summit in France next June, with President Ahmad al-Sharaa representing the country.

The Syrian participation will be as a guest country for the first time in its history. The summit is scheduled for June 15 to 17 in Evian-les-Bains in southeastern France.

Finance talks in Paris

Finance Minister Mohammed Yasar Barniyeh led a Syrian delegation that took part in G7 talks in the financial track in Paris on Monday.

Barniyeh is also due to attend closed sessions focused on strategies for sustainable economic recovery and on ways to reintegrate the Syrian economy into the international financial system, according to SANA.

Investment and infrastructure plans

The meeting is expected to address mechanisms to facilitate the flow of investment needed to rehabilitate infrastructure, alongside preparations under way for the G7 leaders' summit scheduled for June.

The Group of Seven includes the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Britain and Italy.
