The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) stated on Monday that a tanker was hit by unknown projectiles while transiting approximately 78 nautical miles north of Fujairah city in the UAE.

The UKMTO stated that it "received a report of an incident 78 nautical miles north of Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, where an oil tanker reported being attacked by unknown projectiles," confirming that "all crew members are safe and no environmental impact has been reported."

Meanwhile, the United States announced that it would launch efforts on Monday to "guide" ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, according to President Donald Trump, without providing details about what could be a broad operation to assist hundreds of ships and approximately 20,000 sailors.

Trump said in a social media post on Sunday that "neutral and innocent" countries were affected by the war with Iran, adding: "We have informed these countries that we will safely guide their ships out of these restricted waterways, so they can continue their business freely and efficiently."

He added that "Project Freedom" would begin on Monday morning in the Middle East, noting that its representatives are holding talks with Iran which could lead to "very positive results for everyone."

In this regard, the "Axios" website quoted an official as saying that US Navy ships would be nearby to prevent the Iranian military from attacking ships transiting Hormuz, and would provide ships with information about safe passages in the Strait not threatened by Iranian mines.

It is worth noting that the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran imposed after the United States and Israel launched war on it on February 28, led to global market disruption.
