Mohamed bin Zayed: UAE deals decisively with any threat to its sovereignty and security

President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, affirmed on Tuesday that the UAE has sought prosperity and growth for its people and the peoples of the world since its establishment, but at the same time it deals decisively and firmly with any threat to its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its people and residents on its land.

In a speech on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the unification of the armed forces, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed added that "the state, with the efficiency of its army, the cohesion of its society, and the strength of its model, is capable of repelling any aggression, confronting any threat, and continuing to move forward," according to the UAE news agency "WAM."

He affirmed that "building our defensive capabilities will remain a key strategic goal within the comprehensive and sustainable development vision of the UAE, so that our armed forces remain, as they have always been, a shield that protects, a sword that deters, and a fence that safeguards our march towards the future."

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said: "Today we celebrate a historic milestone, represented by the decision to unify our armed forces, which reflects the foresight of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed, and his fellow rulers, may God have mercy on them, and their wisdom and keen vision."

He continued: "We celebrate this glorious national anniversary in an atmosphere of national pride after our armed forces wrote a magnificent national epic in confronting the Iranian terrorist attacks that targeted civilians and civilian sites, and dealt with them with courage, efficiency, and competence."

He said that "what our armed forces did in confronting this aggression, and what their sons showed of courage and sincerity in performing the sacred national duty, and the great sacrifices they made, will be recorded in ink of pride, glory, and honor in the brightest pages of our history, to affirm that the UAE is strong with its sons and invincible with its unity."

He explained that "the advanced defense industries that the state has developed within an extended strategic planning that looks to the future represent one of the most important sources of strength and effectiveness for the armed forces in confronting Iranian terrorist attacks."

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed stressed that building defensive capabilities will remain a key strategic goal within the comprehensive and sustainable development vision of the UAE, ensuring the continuation of the armed forces as "a shield that protects, a sword that deters, and a fence that safeguards the state's march towards the future."
