President Donald Trump labeled American media outlets guilty of "treason" for reporting that Iran remains a functioning military force, insisting the country's army has been "destroyed."

President Donald Trump has accused American media outlets of "treason" after they published reports suggesting Iran still operates as a viable military power. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump declared that the Iranian military had been "destroyed" and that any claim to the contrary was false and laughable.
"When the fake news media claims that the Iranian enemy is making great military progress against us, that is treason," Trump wrote. "It is a false and ridiculous claim; they are helping the enemy and inciting them! All they are doing is giving Iran false hope that has no basis. These are American cowards fueling conflict against our own country."
The president detailed the extent of Iran's alleged military collapse. "Iran had 159 ships in its naval fleet, and now they all lie at the bottom of the sea. They no longer have a naval fleet, their air force is destroyed, their technology is gone, their leaders are no longer with us, and the country is in an economic catastrophe," he said. He concluded his remarks by stating, "Only losers, ingrates, and fools are capable of directing accusations against America!"
According to Newsmax, Trump's statements are part of a series of hardline positions regarding the conflict with Iran. The outlet also reported that the president's use of the word "treason" to describe critical media coverage has sparked angry reactions from legal experts and press freedom advocates. They point out that the U.S. Constitution defines treason narrowly as waging war against the United States or providing aid to its enemies, a definition that does not apply to journalism or political commentary.
