Trump bets on Iranian economy's collapse

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed he is not trying to force Iran to return to the negotiating table, denying media reports claiming his administration seeks to push Tehran toward a new agreement, as military and economic confrontation between the two countries intensifies, and questioning: "When will the Iranian people rise up and fight?"

Speaking in a post on his platform "Truth Social": "I am not trying to force Iran to sit at the negotiating table," attacking a report by ABC News about this matter.

He added that he is no longer interested in what he described as a "worthless" deal with Iran, believing the current situation is more favorable for the United States than returning to a negotiation path that fails to achieve Washington's goals.

Trump said he prefers the current status quo under what he described as "near-total control" over the Strait of Hormuz and the "complete collapse" of the Iranian economy, adding that Tehran is merely delaying what is inevitable.
