Trump Blames Democrats for Sharp Drop in US Stock Markets
US President Donald Trump blamed Democrats for the sharp decline in American stock markets following midterm election gains, as the Nasdaq recorded its worst daily performance since April 2025.

US President Donald Trump on Thursday blamed Democrats for the sharp drop in American stock markets, following the party's gains in the midterm elections, while the "Nasdaq" index recorded its worst daily performance since April 2025.
Trump said via his Truth Social platform: "The stock market suffered one of the worst daily losses in history due to election results. It is very sad to see that."
He added: "It took great effort to reach levels we had never seen before, and then this happened..."
Trump accused Democrats of causing the market retreat, expressing confidence in the ability of US stocks to recover under his leadership.
He continued: "Remember, it was not the Republicans, but the Democrats," using the term Dumocrats to mock the Democratic Party.
He added: "But do not be afraid, because soon, one way or another, we will become bigger and stronger than ever."
