Will Trump cancel Freedom 250 after artists withdraw?
Following multiple artist withdrawals, Donald Trump has suggested cancelling the Freedom 250 concert series planned for America's 250th anniversary.

Several artists have withdrawn from the Freedom 250 concert series, prompting Donald Trump to consider cancelling the event entirely. Trump expressed his view in a Truth Social post, calling the performers “overpriced” and “boring” and instructing to “Cancel it.” The concert is intended to mark America’s 250th anniversary.
Trump Calls for Freedom 250 Cancellation
Donald Trump urged the cancellation of the Freedom 250 concert series after multiple artists pulled out. He suggested replacing the concert with a large-scale “Make America Great Again” rally instead of what he described as “overpriced singers” whose music is “boring” and who “do nothing but complain.”
In his post, Trump wrote, “We should have a giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY, for 250, instead of having overpriced singers, who nobody wants to hear, whose music is boring, and yet who do nothing but complain.” He also mentioned a federal judge’s temporary block on his planned closure of the Kennedy Center.
Details on Freedom 250 Concert Series
The Freedom 250 concert is a public-private partnership supported by the Trump administration. Scheduled to take place on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., the 16-day series is planned from June 25 to July 10, featuring various artists.
However, after the lineup was announced, several performers including Morris Day and the Time, Young MC, Martina McBride, the Commodores, and Bret Michaels withdrew. They stated they were unaware of the event’s political associations.
Response from Freedom 250 Organizers
As of now, no replacement artists have been announced for Freedom 250. Trump is scheduled to open the celebration on June 24. Organizers have denied political motivations, with a spokesperson telling NBC News that the group “is a nonpartisan organization singularly focused on celebrating America’s 250th anniversary and bringing Americans together around this historic milestone.”
