The US President Donald Trump stated on Monday that the ceasefire with Iran is "about to collapse," hours after he described Tehran's response to Washington's peace proposal as "stupid."

Trump's swift rejection of Iran's reply on Sunday has raised fears that the ten-week-old conflict will continue, further paralyzing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

"I describe it as the weakest at the moment, after reading that trivial letter they sent us—in fact, I didn't even finish reading it. It's about to collapse," Trump said of the ceasefire.

Days after Washington put forward a proposal aimed at restarting negotiations, Iran issued a response on Sunday that focused on ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, where Israel—a US ally—is fighting the Iran-backed Hezbollah group.

Tehran also demanded reparations for war damages, asserted its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, and called on the United States to end its naval blockade, guarantee no further attacks, lift sanctions, and remove the ban on its oil sales.

Trump also said on Monday that Iran is ready to give the United States "nuclear dust," a reference to Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium, adding that only China and the United States have the capability to extract it.
