US President Donald Trump announced the launch of "Project Freedom" operation with the aim of freeing the movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz, explaining that American efforts will begin Monday morning Middle East time.

Trump said in a post on his "Truth Social" platform that the US Navy would escort a number of ships stranded in the strait, noting that several countries, most of which are not involved in the conflict in the Middle East, had asked Washington for help in securing the passage of their ships.

He added that the United States had informed those countries that it would take charge of guiding their ships and safely bringing them out of the strait, affirming that the goal is "to free people, companies, and countries that have committed no wrongdoing."

He affirmed that the American step aims to ensure the safety of navigation, and that the interest of Iran, the region, and the United States lies in ships exiting the strait safely.

Trump considered the anticipated step to represent a "humanitarian gesture" from the United States and countries in the Middle East, and from Iran in particular, considering that the operation will reflect a great deal of goodwill among parties that have engaged in confrontations in recent months.

He said that any attempt to obstruct this humanitarian operation "will be dealt with forcefully," affirming that the goal is to ensure the implementation of the initiative without interventions that disrupt its course.

Trump indicated that his country's representatives are holding talks, which he described as "very positive" with Iran, considering that these communications could lead to positive results.

Iranian forces closed the vital Strait of Hormuz after the start of the US-Israeli air campaign against Iran on February 28, while Washington announced a blockade on Iranian ports after the failure of peace talks in Pakistan to achieve any progress, and began implementing it on April 13.
