President Trump says he is ready to send US negotiators to Moscow and backs a significant extension of the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire beyond May 11.

President Donald Trump has signaled his willingness to dispatch American negotiators to Moscow if it helps secure a resolution to the war in Ukraine. The offer comes alongside his support for a “major extension” of the current ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, which is set to expire after May 11.
Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Trump stated he is “ready to do that if it is believed the step will help resolve the conflict,” referring to the possibility of sending a US delegation to the Russian capital for talks on the Ukraine crisis. He also expressed a desire for a substantial prolongation of the truce.
Moscow has already agreed to a US-backed initiative for a ceasefire from May 9 to May 11, coinciding with a large-scale prisoner exchange with Kyiv on an “a thousand for a thousand” basis. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov previously confirmed Russia’s acceptance of the ceasefire proposal put forward by Trump, framing it as part of efforts to de-escalate tensions and open a window for dialogue between the two sides.
