Trump: Oval Office to Become a National Landmark
President Donald Trump signed a document aiming to designate the White House's Oval Office and Cabinet Room as national landmarks.
US President Donald Trump signed on Thursday a document aimed at designating the White House's Oval Office and Cabinet Room as national landmarks.
Since returning to office for his second term, Trump has reshaped the historic Oval Office, adding gold touches and ornaments, small statues, portraits of famous American figures retrieved from storage, and a copy of the Declaration of Independence hanging on the walls.
When asked about the possibility of future changes if needed, Trump told reporters: "No major modification will take place without Congressional approval."
He added: "So, if they want to say: 'Let's get rid of the oval shape and make it square,' what will happen is that they will have to go back to Congress, and we hope that Congress... will be smart enough not to allow that to happen."
