Trump Says US Nearly Reached Deal with Iran Before Drone Attack on Ship
Trump stated the US delivered a strong strike against Iran after Tehran attacked a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, just as a deal was close.

Former US President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States launched a very strong strike against Iran overnight in response to Tehran's attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a phone statement to CNN, Trump said, "We delivered a very powerful strike to them last night," and revealed that "we were close to reaching an agreement on Saturday."
He emphasized that "they were about to give up everything, then suddenly, two hours later, they targeted a ship with a drone," adding, "These people have some kind of problem."
The United States announced that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to all ships and that the US military is on high alert to ensure freedom of navigation there, despite Iran's declaration of closing the waterway.
