President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday that the war with Iran is nearing its end, emphasizing accelerated negotiations that could soon lead to lower oil prices. Speaking to lawmakers during a Congressional picnic at the White House, he stated, "We will end everything, and we will end this war very quickly."

Trump added that Iran is eager to reach an agreement, saying, "They really want to make a deal, and it will happen, and it will happen soon. You will see oil prices plunge." He reiterated the United States' firm position against Iran obtaining nuclear weapons: "We have to stop them. They are thinking about nuclear weapons, and we will not let them have it."

Expressing confidence in the progress made, Trump remarked, "We have done a great job. I believe we will finish this very quickly," and expressed hope that the resolution would be "in a very friendly manner."

The Axios report detailed that the meeting included a comprehensive briefing on possible military scenarios alongside discussions about the ongoing confrontations with Iran and the diplomatic efforts underway.

The meeting occurred amid Trump's continued warnings that Iran has only a "short deadline" of a few days to reach an agreement, hinting at the possibility of military action should negotiations fail.

According to officials, the decision to halt the attack was not finalized until the last moments. Trump was reportedly close to ordering the strike before opting to delay it. The suspension decision was partly influenced by requests from Washington's regional allies.

Regional and International Preparations

In related developments, The Wall Street Journal reported that the United States and Israel are preparing for a potential strike against Iran scheduled for next week.
