Axios reported that US and Israeli officials believe that US President Donald Trump may order the resumption of operations against Iran this week if no breakthrough is achieved in negotiations.
The site added: "Some US and Israeli officials believe that President Trump may order the resumption of war (against Iran) later this week if the diplomatic stalemate continues."
On May 3, Trump announced Operation "Project Freedom" to provide assistance to ships trapped in the Strait of Hormuz seeking to leave it. Subsequently, the General Commander of the Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces "Khatam al-Anbiya" Ali Abdollahi stated that Tehran warns the United States against approaching the Strait of Hormuz and is prepared to attack US armed forces.
Last week, Trump held a meeting with intelligence officials against the backdrop of unclear procedures regarding operations against Iran. Later, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the ceasefire system between the United States and Iran remains in effect.
