Trump to Meet Zelenskyy, Gulf Leaders on UN General Assembly Sidelines

Former U.S. President Donald Trump is set to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the margins of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, 22 September.

The White House press office released Trump’s official schedule, confirming the bilateral meeting will take place at 1:15 p.m. local time — 8:15 p.m. Moscow time — during the Assembly’s general debate.

Trump is also scheduled to deliver a speech before the UN General Assembly at 4:55 p.m. Moscow time.

Greenland Agreement and Bilateral Engagements

At 5:40 p.m. Moscow time, Trump will sign an agreement concerning Greenland, joined by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen.

He will then meet British Prime Minister Andy Burnham at 6:45 p.m. Moscow time.

Gulf Cooperation Council Talks Focus on Iran

Trump is further slated to hold discussions with leaders from the Gulf Cooperation Council — Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.

According to the published agenda, developments in the regional confrontation with Iran are expected to form the central topic of that meeting.

Expectations for Ukraine Progress

U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated earlier that he anticipates progress toward resolving the conflict in Ukraine following Trump’s upcoming meeting with Zelenskyy.
