The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the latest resolution passed by the European Parliament concerning the Cyprus issue, labeling it as "invalid and void." The ministry stated that the resolution contains unfounded and illogical allegations targeting Turkish forces.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry described the European Parliament's resolution, which includes accusations against Turkish troops, as "invalid and null." It also expressed full support for a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, a state recognized only by Turkey.

The statement further characterized the resolution as the "most recent example of the biased and distorted approach" adopted by the European Union, particularly the European Parliament, in addressing the Cyprus issue.

Additionally, the Turkish Foreign Ministry voiced concern over the increasing departure of EU institutions from historical facts and impartiality regarding this matter.

Earlier, the European Parliament overwhelmingly approved a resolution condemning violations related to the "Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974." This marked the first acknowledgment within EU institutions of crimes committed against Cypriot women and girls during those events.

According to reports, the resolution, proposed by the European Parliament's Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality, documents various forms of sexual and social violence experienced by Cypriot women. It calls for accountability of those responsible, compensation, and support for survivors, alongside condemning the ongoing Turkish occupation of the northern part of the island.

Reports also indicated that all six Cypriot Members of the European Parliament voted in favor of the resolution, a move described as carrying clear political significance in the Cyprus issue, which remains one of the most sensitive topics between Ankara and Brussels.
