The UAE condemned the hijacking of an oil tanker off Yemen's coast with Egyptian crew, expressing solidarity with Egypt and calling for international action against piracy.

The United Arab Emirates has condemned the hijacking of an oil tanker off the coast of Yemen, an incident that saw the vessel, carrying Egyptian sailors, subsequently taken into Somali territorial waters. In a statement carried by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the act as a direct threat to maritime navigation security and the safety of international trade routes.
The ministry expressed the UAE's full solidarity with the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, as well as with the families of the abducted sailors, and voiced support for all efforts aimed at ensuring their safety and securing their release.
The UAE emphasized the critical need to intensify international efforts to combat piracy and organized crime in vital sea lanes. The Foreign Ministry reiterated that the security of maritime navigation is a fundamental pillar for the stability of the global economy and international trade.
Reaffirming its stance, the UAE called for enhanced regional and international cooperation to protect commercial vessels, guarantee the safety of their crews, and maintain the security and stability of maritime navigation.
