UK Sanctions Target Russian Youth Programs and Deportations
Britain imposed new sanctions on dozens of Russian officials, media workers, and entities linked to youth programs and child deportations from Ukraine.

London announced a fresh wave of sanctions Monday, hitting dozens of Russian officials, media figures, and organizations. The measures target what the British government described as Kremlin-run youth programs, propaganda networks, and entities involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children and their ideological indoctrination.
Since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022, Britain has sanctioned over 3,200 individuals, companies, and vessels under its Russia sanctions regime, according to Reuters. The stated aim is to disrupt Russian activities and support Ukraine.
Expanding the Sanctions Net
Many of the earlier sanctions focused on ships and companies linked to oil trade, aiming to cut Moscow's energy revenues. More recently, however, London has also targeted entities that directly affect people.
Last week, Britain added 35 individuals and entities to its sanctions list. It accused them of recruiting migrants to fight alongside Russia against Ukraine and of producing drones for use in the war.
