Ukraine's president confirms a long-range strike on gas infrastructure in Russia's Orenburg region, over 1,500 km from the border.

Ukraine has carried out a strike on gas facilities in Russia's Orenburg region, a location more than 1,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on Tuesday. The attack marks one of the deepest known Ukrainian operations inside Russian territory.
In his nightly address to Ukrainians, Zelenskyy said Kyiv is also working with European allies to develop defenses against ballistic missiles. He noted that 13 countries and representatives of NATO participated in discussions on the matter Tuesday.
"In general, Ukraine's current situation on the front line, in our long-range strikes, and in our joint results with partners, is the highest it has been in years," Zelenskyy stated. "We must maintain this level and continue to achieve results."
The president earlier asserted that Russia has no intention of ending the war. "Unfortunately, we are preparing for new attacks," he said.
These developments come as U.S. President Donald Trump has called for rounds of talks between the warring sides in an effort to end the conflict, though no peace agreement has been reached. Russia, which currently occupies roughly one-fifth of Ukraine's territory, demands that Kyiv cede more land. Ukraine, in turn, insists on the withdrawal of Russian forces.
