A British maritime trade body reported an unidentified projectile strike on a vessel transiting out of the Strait of Hormuz, damaging its engine room and injuring one crew member.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) issued a brief statement on Tuesday confirming it had received a report of an unidentified projectile striking a vessel as it transited outward through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a security officer from the vessel’s shipping company, the incident occurred during the ship’s outbound passage through the strait, as cited by UKMTO in a concise announcement posted on its X account.
The projectile impact caused damage to the vessel’s engine room and resulted in injury to one crew member. All other crew members are receiving assistance from the Omani Coast Guard.
Preliminary data indicate that vessel transit through the Strait of Hormuz continues at a slow pace, with only six ships completing passage on Monday.
