US Cyber Command Investigates Five Suicides Among Personnel in Two Months

The US Army’s Cyber Command has launched a detailed investigation into a cluster of suicides among its personnel over a single month this summer.

According to Bloomberg, the deaths have raised concern among US lawmakers and military leaders overseeing the classified branch of the armed forces tasked with defending US computer systems and penetrating foreign adversaries’ networks, based on documents and records reviewed by the agency.

These fatalities have revived longstanding concerns among officials about the mental health of military cyber operators, whose workloads increased substantially over the past year amid external conflicts.

Between early June and July, up to five individuals employed by or closely affiliated with US Cyber Command died by suicide, as confirmed by internal military correspondence, public records, and sources familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity due to lack of authorization to discuss it publicly.
