Two individuals suspected of involvement in drug trafficking were killed during a US military operation targeting a boat in the Pacific Ocean, the US military announced on May 28.

The Joint Task Force Southern Spear carried out a lethal kinetic strike against a vessel operated by organizations designated as terrorist groups. This action was ordered by General Francis L. Donovan, commander of the US Southern Command, on May 27.

Intelligence reports confirmed that the targeted boat was traveling along established narcotics trafficking routes in the eastern Pacific and was actively engaged in smuggling activities.

The strike resulted in the deaths of two suspected members of the drug trafficking network. No US military personnel were harmed during the operation, according to the official statement.

The military did not provide further details regarding the precise location of the strike or the fate of the vessel following the attack. Additionally, there was no information released about any arrests or confiscation of cargo.
