Iranian state media published an undated video of Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, apparently marking his first known visual appearance since being appointed in March, succeeding his father Ali Khamenei, who was killed at the start of the Iran war.

Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared publicly since assuming office, with references to him in recent months limited to messages and statements released through official media outlets.

In the video, Khamenei is seen delivering a religious lecture in front of a group of people. The publishing entity provided no information regarding the date or location of filming. The content suggests the footage was shot before the outbreak of war, though Iranian media have not explained why it was released at this time.

The release of the video has fueled new speculation about the whereabouts and health condition of the Iranian leader, particularly given his continued absence from public appearances since taking office.

The semi-official Mehr News Agency, close to the Supreme Leader’s office, was among the media outlets that shared the clip, although the footage has not yet gained widespread circulation across other Iranian media platforms.

Earlier sources speaking to CNN after Mojtaba Khamenei’s election reported he suffered a foot fracture, along with minor facial injuries, during the first day of the U.S.-Israeli bombardment of Iran.

No clear signs of injury are visible in the latest footage, but the unknown filming date prevents confirmation of whether the clips reflect his current health status.
