The US State Department announced early Thursday morning that the United States has imposed new sanctions on two individuals and one entity for helping Iran acquire man-portable air defense systems.

In a statement, the department said it is "designating today two individuals and one entity involved in efforts to assist the Iranian regime in acquiring man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS)."

The department added that "these actions are part of an ongoing US campaign against Iranian military procurement networks related to man-portable air defense systems."

According to the statement, these measures aim to "close more channels Tehran uses to attempt to rebuild its arsenal, while increasing risks faced by brokers and suppliers in other countries."

It emphasized that "the United States will continue to expose networks contributing to arming the Iranian army and the Revolutionary Guard, and will continue to deny the regime resources supporting its destabilizing activities."
