During the inauguration of a new Ebola treatment center in Bunia, the capital of Ituri province, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that five patients have recovered from Ebola, with four discharged on Sunday and one on the previous Saturday.

Ghebreyesus emphasized that despite ongoing efforts to develop vaccines and treatments, recovery from Ebola is possible. He stated, "We are still working on vaccines and treatments, but this does not mean that people cannot recover from Ebola."

The World Health Organization reported that the latest statistics indicate 906 suspected Ebola cases and 223 suspected deaths in the region.

Additionally, Uganda's Ministry of Health confirmed nine cases and one death related to Ebola as of Friday.

At the opening of the new treatment center on Sunday, Ghebreyesus stressed the critical role of community involvement in addressing the outbreak. He urged individuals experiencing symptoms to seek medical care promptly, saying, "If someone comes to health facilities when they feel symptoms, they can receive support and recover. The main point is to go to the facility as soon as possible and get the necessary support."
