Arsenal Claims English League Title After 22 Years
Arsenal secured the English Premier League championship for the first time since 2004 following their 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.
Arsenal celebrated winning the English Premier League title after defeating Crystal Palace 2-1 in their final match of the season on Sunday.
The club secured its 14th league championship and first since 2004, having already clinched the title last Tuesday when their closest rival, Manchester City, drew 1-1 with Bournemouth.
Following the match, Arsenal players entered the locker room to change into commemorative shirts bearing the word "Champions" alongside the number 26. Every player and manager Mikel Arteta wore these shirts to mark the occasion of lifting the league trophy at Selhurst Park stadium.
Martin Ødegaard, Arsenal’s captain, lifted the trophy in front of the Arsenal supporters gathered at Crystal Palace’s ground. Both players and fans joined in a jubilant celebration as the club reclaimed the title after a 22-year absence. The event was attended by club owner Stan Kroenke and his son Josh Kroenke, who serves as CEO and vice chairman.
The fans sang alongside the players and took commemorative photos with the squad and manager Arteta, recreating a festive atmosphere not seen since the end of the 2003/2004 season at Arsenal’s former home, Highbury Stadium, before their move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2006.
Arsenal is set to face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final next Saturday at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary.
