Cristiano Ronaldo spends a reflective family vacation with fiancée Georgina Rodriguez following Portugal's elimination from the 2026 World Cup round of 16.

Following Portugal's narrow 1-0 defeat to Spain in the round of 16 at Dallas Stadium, Cristiano Ronaldo has taken time away from the pitch to be with his fiancée Georgina Rodriguez. The Portugal forward, visibly emotional after the loss, has shifted focus to a private retreat under the sun, as shared by Rodriguez on social media.
Ronaldo, who described the 2026 World Cup as his final appearance at the tournament, acknowledged the need for reflection after the campaign. "I'm sad to be leaving the World Cup like this. I gave it my all. I did my best. It was my last World Cup, yes, but I'll now have time to reflect and be with my family," he said. He also emphasized that no immediate decisions about his future would be made "in the heat of the moment."
During the tournament, Ronaldo scored three goals, including strikes against Uzbekistan and Croatia. Despite the personal achievements, the campaign ended in disappointment without a trophy. He highlighted his long-standing contributions to Portugal’s national team, stating, "Tomorrow I will get up the same way I got up today: with a clear conscience. I played 23 years in the national team and won three titles. Before Cristiano, Portugal had not won anything."
Ronaldo and Rodriguez, who met in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, have maintained a strong relationship throughout his career. They expanded their family during this time and publicly announced their engagement in August 2025, with Rodriguez showcasing her engagement ring to her followers. Speculation has grown that the couple may plan to marry following the conclusion of the World Cup.
Despite criticism regarding his age and pace during the tournament, Ronaldo maintained his commitment to the national team. "It's been like this since I joined the national team at 18. It's always been like this, it won't change. I'm always giving my all to help the national team achieve its goals. Whether I'm playing or not, I'll always have an important role in this national team," he affirmed.
He closed his remarks by expressing gratitude for his career achievements, including becoming the all-time leading goalscorer in international football. "I lack nothing in life. God has been very generous to me and has given me everything I never expected to win, both in the national team and on a personal level. Therefore, it's about enjoying every moment," Ronaldo concluded.
