FC Bayern Munich is reportedly experiencing internal discord despite their recent double victory, with sporting director Max Eberl's position appearing unstable after a brief period in office, according to a report by kicker.

Sources indicate that the club has not presented a united front internally for several months. The specialist magazine has consistently highlighted deep divisions within the club’s management, emphasizing that the conflict extends beyond mere philosophical disagreements.

Central to the turmoil is the strained relationship between sporting director Max Eberl and his counterpart Christoph Freund. However, the more significant concern for Eberl lies with the club’s supervisory board, which reportedly views his performance with considerable scepticism.

Uli Hoeneß, club patron and honorary president, intensified the situation by revealing in an interview with Der Spiegel that the likelihood of extending Eberl’s contract beyond 2027 stands at approximately "60 to 40" percent. Hoeneß stated that Eberl remains under close examination, noting, "There are still doubts. I don't want to go into details now; I'll leave that to our discussion in the supervisory board."

The supervisory board is expected to make a final decision regarding Eberl’s future during its next regular meeting in August. Hoeneß emphasized the importance of this decision, saying the club must determine if Eberl is "the manager who should lead FC Bayern into the future."

Further reports from Bild allege that the supervisory board has accused Eberl of a serious breach of trust, criticizing his hasty and rash actions in the transfer market. Club officials complain about a lack of coordination with the board and the omission of mandatory consultations with influential figures before making transfer decisions.

The board reportedly demands that Eberl adopt a firmer stance in upcoming negotiations. Additionally, concerns have been raised about his personal working style and his ability to manage the club’s confrontational environment at Säbener Straße, suggesting he struggles with Bayern’s assertive conflict culture.

It has also been reported that Eberl is difficult to contact, with senior officials expressing frustration over his frequent phone-free breaks, which they believe contribute to tensions amid the constant pressures of elite football.

Reacting to Hoeneß’s criticism during an appearance on ARD at the cup celebrations, Eberl admitted the remarks had affected him. He expressed surprise at the comments and acknowledged the existence of doubts, stating, "The doubts are there – apparently. Otherwise, he wouldn't have said that."

FC Bayern Munich’s upcoming fixtures include a friendly against Wehen Wiesbaden on 25 July, followed by matches against Jeju SK FC on 4 August, Aston Villa on 7 August, and RB Leipzig on 15 August.
