Gabriel Jesus is evaluating his options within the Premier League as he seeks more consistent first-team opportunities beyond Arsenal. The Brazilian striker, currently under contract with Arsenal until June 2027, has faced challenges securing regular appearances under manager Mikel Arteta.

Reports from ESPN indicate that Jesus, aged 29, is not dismissing the possibility of moving to a rival English club this summer to regain a central role in attack. His limited involvement last season has prompted him to prioritize playing time over loyalty to his current club.

Since returning from an 11-month absence caused by an ACL injury, Jesus has scored six goals in 27 appearances for Arsenal. However, ongoing fitness issues and inconsistent performances have resulted in reduced playing time and a lower position in Arteta’s selection hierarchy.

Although Jesus has expressed a long-term wish to return to his boyhood club Palmeiras in Brazil, where he played before transferring to Manchester City in 2017, a move back to Brazil is not currently a priority as he aims to establish his legacy in European football.

A key motivation for Jesus to remain in England is his pursuit of becoming the Premier League’s top Brazilian goalscorer. He is four goals short of surpassing Roberto Firmino’s record of 82 goals, which Firmino set during his tenure at Liverpool.

Having spent nine seasons competing in the Premier League, Jesus is intent on breaking Firmino’s record. Continuing at a competitive English club would provide the necessary platform to achieve this milestone and enhance his standing among South American players in the league.

In addition to sporting reasons, staying in the UK offers administrative advantages for Jesus. He is on track to obtain British citizenship later this year, a status that benefits both him and prospective clubs.

British citizenship would enable Jesus to qualify as a home-grown player under Premier League squad registration rules. This designation is valuable for clubs managing recruitment and squad composition, making a move within the Premier League more appealing than transferring abroad.
