Liverpool Owners Consider Firing Slut After Salah's Criticism
Liverpool plans to dismiss coach Arne Slut following a disappointing season and Mohamed Salah's public criticism of the club.
Liverpool is preparing to part ways with Dutch manager Arne Slut after a trophyless and frustrating season for the Reds.
According to TEAMtalk, the club has settled on the decision to sack Slut despite his contract running until summer 2027.
As Liverpool approaches the final round of the Premier League, their qualification for next season’s Champions League remains uncertain.
Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s legendary forward, publicly criticized Slut and the club’s declining standards on his X account, stating that the fans do not deserve such a collapse.
Historically, Liverpool has not been a club that frequently dismisses managers, and throughout most of this disastrous season, sources insisted the owners would back Slut.
Moreover, Slut recently stated he was heavily involved in planning for the upcoming season.
Internal Sympathy for Salah’s Message
Despite this, TEAMtalk correspondent Graeme Bailey revealed a shift in the stance of Liverpool’s senior officials, who are seriously considering a managerial change.
Bailey said, "Edwards and Hughes have a lot of serious thinking and discussion to undertake. The situation regarding Slut is escalating rapidly."
He added, "I can tell you that not everyone within the club agrees that Slut should definitely stay."
Bailey noted, "Liverpool is not a club that acts on emotion or impulse, but the ownership fully understands the situation has become extremely concerning."
He explained, "I have been informed that Salah’s remarks had a very significant impact. Internally, there is a lot of sympathy for what he said, and people inside the club understand why he expressed those frustrations."
