Manchester United remains intent on adding another midfielder before the transfer window closes, despite setbacks including a failed medical for Atalanta's Ederson.

The club has already secured two midfielders this summer: Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa.

Among the potential recruits, France's Manu Kone has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, alongside speculation about Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni.

However, insider Fabrizio Romano has highlighted Paris Saint-Germain's Warren Zaïre-Emery as a “dream” target for Manchester United, even though PSG currently shows no intention of selling the young midfielder.

Romano explained on his YouTube channel that PSG is satisfied with its current midfield lineup, having recently secured a new contract for Fabian Ruiz, and is not planning changes in that area.

He stated, “At the moment, the Zaïre-Emery story is difficult, it’s complicated. If Manchester United enters the race for Zaïre-Emery, I will report it, but for now, he is more of a dream target than a realistic one.”

Man Utd's Interest in Manu Kone and Transfer Strategy

Romano differentiated Manu Kone from Zaïre-Emery by noting that Manchester United has already engaged in direct talks with Kone’s representatives.

He said, “There were conversations last week, which I exclusively reported. Discussions are ongoing, but United must determine their budget for a defensive midfielder before proceeding with any offers.”

Currently, no formal bid or club-to-club negotiations have taken place regarding Kone. Romano also dismissed inflated reports suggesting a transfer fee of 85 to 90 million euros, indicating the actual price is expected to be lower.

He added, “Manu Kone remains on Manchester United’s list, but other clubs are also interested, making this an intriguing situation to monitor in the coming weeks.”
