Man Utd Weigh £30m Sorloth Bid Amid Late-Window Striker Search

Manchester United have been presented with the opportunity to sign Atlético Madrid forward Alexander Sorloth for £30 million, according to a report from Caught Offside.

The club has spent approximately £150 million this summer on midfield reinforcements, bringing in Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos, and Youri Tielemans.

United have also secured Karl Darlow as a new backup goalkeeper and signed multiple youth players, yet remain active in the transfer market ahead of the window’s close.

Michael Carrick’s squad still requires depth in several areas, with potential additions targeted at left-back, winger, and striker positions before the deadline.

A new centre-forward could provide cover for Benjamin Sesko, particularly as Joshua Zirkzee appears set to depart following interest from Serie A side Fiorentina.

Atlético Madrid is among the clubs said to have formally offered Sorloth to United, capitalising on the Red Devils’ publicly acknowledged need for striking depth.

Sorloth Offer Under Active Review

United are reportedly weighing the proposal and have not ruled out a late signing involving the Norwegian striker.

Sorloth is described as a “tempting option” for the club, while he himself is characterised as “open to the right opportunity” — though not actively seeking a departure from Atlético Madrid.

Newcastle United and Juventus are also named as suitors for Sorloth, but the report states United are unlikely to match Atlético’s £30m valuation.

A source cited by Caught Offside confirmed: “Alexander Sorloth has been offered to Manchester United, and, as of yet, they have not ruled out a move.”

The same source added: “Other clubs could be there too, so United need to decide fast. As things stand, I’m not sure they’d pay the £30m asking price, but they might try to negotiate a loan.”

Shearer Backs Striker Addition

Pundit Alan Shearer told Metro that United “need another striker” to support Sesko’s development and help the team progress “to the next level”.

He noted United’s defensive shortcomings but stressed the absence of sufficient quality in the central-forward role.

“Clearly, Sesko wasn’t fit. They brought him on in the second half and he missed a couple of decent chances,” Shearer said.

“I do think that to go to the next level, they might need another centre-forward. Having said that, I guess you could say that with many clubs. Where do you get them from? That’s the big thing.”
