Manchester City was defeated 1-2 by Aston Villa in the last round of the English Premier League.

This emotional fixture officially closed the most successful era in Manchester City's history, coinciding with the departure of their legendary Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola.

City entered the match after Arsenal had already secured the Premier League title, turning the game against Aston Villa into a special tribute night for Guardiola in his 593rd and final appearance as the club's manager.

The club announced that the newly developed and expanded North Stand at the Etihad Stadium would be named the "Pep Guardiola Stand" in honor of the coach.

Manchester City took the lead in the 22nd minute through Antoine Semenyo.

At the start of the second half, English striker Ollie Watkins shocked the home crowd by scoring the equalizer in the 46th minute. He then scored the winning goal in the 61st minute, capitalizing on the emotional and mental distraction among City players.

Guardiola leaves Manchester City after a full decade (2016-2026), during which he secured 20 major trophies, including domestic dominance and a historic UEFA Champions League title.

In recognition of this remarkable legacy, the club officially renamed the North Stand at the Etihad Stadium as the "Pep Guardiola Stand."

Despite stepping down from coaching duties, Guardiola will remain within the organization. The club announced his new role as the "Global Ambassador for the City Football Group," where he will provide technical and strategic advice to the group's network of global clubs.

Regarding his successor, English reports indicate that the leading candidate to take over City from next season is Italian coach Enzo Maresca, who is viewed as the natural heir to Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
