Musiala to Face Driving Ban Following High-Speed Crash
Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala has been ordered to pay a fine and faces a driving ban after a motorway collision near Salzburg in April 2025. The incident involved excessive speed and resulted in injuries to two passengers in another vehicle.

Driving at 194 km/h in a 120 km/h zone, Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala collided with a Volkswagen Golf on the A8 motorway near Salzburg on April 13, 2025. The Germany international was reportedly accompanied by his younger sister during the incident.
Florian Lindemann, spokesperson for the Munich I Public Prosecutor's Office, confirmed that Musiala’s overtaking manoeuvre led to the crash. The Golf carried two passengers, a 30-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both of whom suffered minor injuries.
After the collision, Musiala checked on the other vehicle’s occupants. The accident caused property damage estimated at approximately €200,000. Following investigations, the Munich District Court issued a penal order on January 28, 2026, which has since become legally binding.
The court charged Musiala with negligent endangerment of road traffic and negligent bodily injury in two counts. The penalties include a fine and the revocation of his driving licence. Lindemann stated that Musiala will be barred from obtaining a new licence for nine months after the penal order’s finalisation, extending the driving ban into the autumn.
This legal issue arises during a challenging period for Musiala, who sustained a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle during the 2025 Club World Cup. After returning to play in January, he suffered another ankle injury in March, further complicating his season.
