Pension Law Decree on Haidar's Table

Minister of Labor Muhammad Haidar chaired a meeting of the National Oversight Committee for the Implementation of the Pension and Social Protection System, comprising Chairperson of the Civil Service Council Nisrin Moushawi, President of the General Workers' Union and Board Chairman of the National Social Security Fund Bashir Al-Asmar, Director General of the Fund Muhammad Karki, Board Member representing the Association of Industrialists Minir Al-Bassat, Technical Committee Head at the Fund Mekram Ghosoub, Acting Director General of the Ministry of Labor Marlin Etalallah, Raja Jbour from the International Labour Organization, and Committee Secretary Hassan Hatit.

The participants discussed the implementation of Decree No. 319, particularly regarding the appointment of the Investment Committee, agreeing to soon announce applications through the Civil Service Council to begin appointing the Chair and members of the Investment Committee.

They also discussed the decree related to transitioning from the severance phase to the pension system with its associated benefits, agreeing to begin preparing the necessary steps and submit it to the Council of Ministers.

The discussion addressed end-of-service benefits and their calculation method, with Jbour from the International Labour Organization requested to provide an updated version of the organization’s study including the full year of 2025. They also agreed to meet during the second week of next month to follow up on discussions and implement required decrees.

Haidar praised the launch of the National Social Security Fund’s Board of Directors and its immediate commencement of meetings, which provides momentum to the social security system at this stage.
