Reports from Spain have challenged the British media's claims that Barcelona made a low offer to Manchester United for the permanent transfer of English winger Marcos Rashford.

According to sources close to Rashford, cited by the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the player remains uncertain about his next destination and has not been informed of any official steps, contrary to reports suggesting a €15 million offer was rejected by Manchester United.

The newspaper clarified that Barcelona has yet to submit an official bid. The club has until June 15, just two days before England’s opening World Cup match against Croatia, to notify Manchester United of its decision regarding activating the purchase clause valued at approximately £26 million (€30 million).

It was also noted that Barcelona informed Manchester United of its willingness to pay only half the amount and is considering negotiating the fee or requesting a second loan period.

Those close to Rashford, who is currently on loan at Barcelona until June 30, confirmed the player's desire to stay after what he described as an enjoyable season at Camp Nou. This aligns with a conversation he had with coach Hans Flick at the end of last season about the possibility of continuing with the project.

The English player, who scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists during the season with Barcelona, aims to finalize his future before the World Cup begins to focus fully on the tournament, as his loan from Manchester United ended with the season’s close.

Meanwhile, Manchester United awaits a final response from Barcelona amid frustration over the delay in reaching a decision. The English club is aware of Rashford’s preference to return to Spain but has also received inquiries from Premier League clubs, notably Aston Villa and Tottenham, both prepared to meet the full purchase clause.
