Real Madrid has begun closely tracking the situation of Norwegian star Erling Haaland as Manchester City prepares to enter the period following Pep Guardiola's departure.

The Spanish giant plans to act swiftly once signs emerge suggesting Haaland might consider a future away from the Etihad Stadium after his inspirational coach leaves.

According to The Sun, the 38-goal scorer this season was already experiencing frustration before Manchester City lost the Premier League title, and rumors about Guardiola’s exit have now become reality.

Spanish media reports indicate that signing Haaland has become a top priority on Real Madrid’s agenda as the club aims to restore its prestige and return to winning trophies after a disappointing trophyless season.

Manchester City is expected to fiercely resist any attempt to acquire their 25-year-old star, especially since Haaland signed a contract extension in January 2025, binding him to the club until 2034.

However, Real Madrid’s management believes Haaland currently lacks complete stability despite leading his team to a domestic cup double and nearing his third Golden Shoe award in four seasons, potentially paving the way for one of the biggest transfers in recent history.

Reports also reveal that Real Madrid is targeting several other Manchester City players, including Rodri, Tyrell Malacia, Josko Gvardiol, and Bernardo Silva, who has become a free agent.

In terms of coaching staff, Real Madrid has undergone significant changes in recent months; after Xabi Alonso left in January, his replacement Álvaro Arbeloa confirmed he would also depart at season’s end amid strong rumors of José Mourinho’s anticipated return.

Any official move by Real Madrid to sign Haaland will depend heavily on the futures of Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior, who reportedly had serious disagreements with former coach Alonso, making internal stability at Santiago Bernabéu the club’s highest priority before pursuing the Norwegian talent.
