Spain Coach Luis de la Fuente Urges Real Madrid Star to Respect Teammates
Spain's coach Luis de la Fuente addressed Real Madrid defender Din Hausen's reaction to his World Cup exclusion, emphasizing respect for teammates despite disappointment.

Spain's national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, responded to the controversy surrounding Real Madrid defender Din Hausen after his exclusion from the squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Hausen expressed his dissatisfaction indirectly by reposting a message from his father on social media, which included the ideal La Liga lineup based on "Sofascore" statistics, featuring him among the best defenders. This was seen as a sign of his disagreement with the coaching staff’s decision.
When asked about Hausen's reaction, de la Fuente stated that he does not use social media and had not seen the player's post. Upon being informed of the incident, he emphasized that "disappointment is understandable, but respect must always be maintained."
The Spanish coach explained, "I understand the feelings of any player who is not called up, but an important aspect that must not be overlooked is respect for those who have been selected. They are his teammates on the national team and deserve support."
He added, "He is a young player still learning, and over time he will realize that respect and team spirit are among the most important values in football."
De la Fuente’s remarks serve as a public reprimand to Hausen, who had hoped to secure a place in the final World Cup roster following his first season with Real Madrid. However, the coach opted to rely on other players he deemed more deserving of participation.
