EU Ambassador Confirms Continued Expansion of Support Programs in Lebanon
EU Ambassador Sandra De Wal emphasized the EU's role as Lebanon's largest aid partner, providing nearly €3 billion since 2019 and expanding support programs.

Following her meeting with President Joseph Aoun, the European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra De Wal, affirmed that the EU remains Lebanon's largest partner and supporter. She highlighted that the EU, together with its member states, contributes over 70 percent of the total international aid to Lebanon, amounting to nearly 3 billion euros since 2019.
De Wal explained that the European priority is to back the Lebanese state by strengthening its capacities and institutions across various sectors, including security, education, agriculture, water, and public services.
She further noted that since 2023, the European Union has allocated approximately 220 million euros to support the security sector, with 182 million euros designated specifically for the Lebanese army. The ambassador confirmed that support programs will continue to expand in the upcoming period.
